COVID-19 VACCINATION UPDATE: The City Government of Davao has started its registration for Davao residents who want to avail of free COVID-19 vaccines.

DAVAO CITY STARTS REGISTRATION FOR COVID-19 VACCINATION

Davao City’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program head, Dr. Josephine Villafuerte on Thursday, February 11, during the ‘Madayaw Dabaw’ program on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio, announced that Davao residents may now sign up for a slot at their respective health districts ahead of the rollout of local vaccination process.

 COVID-19 VACCINATION

“Gi-awhag nato ang tanan kung asa ang pinakaduol nila nga health center, o di kaha barangay health worker, o barangay nutrition scholars, magparehistro na sila, ihatag nila ilang data para masulod sila sa atong masterlist (We encourage everyone to register, provide their data to their nearest health center, barangay health worker or barangay nutrition scholars so that their names will be included in the masterlist),” she said.

However, according to Villafuerte, only those 18 years old and up are qualified to register while pregnant women are not permitted to take the vaccine.

Under the Davao City’s plan, frontliners, indigents, senior citizens and uniformed personnel will still be prioritized to get the vaccine as classified by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Villafuerte said that each vaccination team will only accommodate 100 clients per day following the intensive vaccination process.

“Gi-limit lang nato for quality services, gi-limit lang gyud sya 100 per vaccination team. If we have five teams, then we will have 500 clients per day (We limit it for quality services, we limit it for 100 per vaccination team. If we have five teams, then we will have 500 clients per day),” Villafuerte explained.

According to Villafuerte, each vaccination process would take about 45 minutes including registration, counseling, screening, vaccination and post vaccination.

She also said that individuals receiving vaccines should follow their schedule for vaccination.

“When you are listed for the day, mag-adto gyud, kasi sayang ang slot, sayang ang higayon nga makadawat mo’g immunization (When you are listed for the day, you come, because you will waste the opportunity to get the immunization),” Villafuerte said.

Villafuerte further disclosed that the city is eyeing for an electronic registration using the SafeDavao QR or DQR code.

“Ang gusto man gud sa atong gobyerno, sa ato sa city, is we use the QR code. So, mas matagaan sya og opportunity ang mga district health officer o district staff to call you for your schedule. I-notify ka nila for your schedule (What the government wanted, here in our city, is we use the QR code. It will provide opportunity for our district health officers or district staff to call for your schedule. They will notify you for your schedule),” Villafuerte said.

Around 1.2 million individuals are targeted to be vaccinated under Davao City’s COVID-19 vaccination program. CIO
